What's new

6 curated simulations

pH, circuits, forces, titration, prism spectrum, balloon rocket — all clean-room built with SVG and sliders.

Vary and observe

Pupils tweak variables in real time and see the consequences instantly — no waiting, no safety brief delays.

AI coach per phase

Safety brief before, hypothesis prompt during, reflection questions after. All gpt-4o-mini with VARK adaptation.

Observation log & report

Each session stores observations in jsonb and can be exported as a short science report.

Sensitive content guardrail

The AI rejects unsafe variable combos (e.g. real acid-base) and suggests alternatives for younger pupils.

Counts in curriculum coverage

Each simulation is tagged to curriculum competences — the session lands in the pupil's knowledge map.

Examples from the classroom

Chemistry, Year 8

Pupils run acid-base titration virtually before the physical lab — discover colour change and pH inflection risk-free.

Physics, Year 6

Balloon rocket sim before the real one: hypothesis, adjust, observe, reflect — all in 15 minutes.

Science, Year 5

The prism spectrum simulation shows how white light splits — pupils change the angle and discover the rainbow themselves.

Remote learning during illness

Pupils join science from home: the simulation, hypothesis prompt and reflection run in the browser — without the risk of chemicals alone.

Security & compliance

Clean-room built

No code copied from PhET or Labster. All 6 simulations built from scratch with SVG, React state and an open-source physics/chemistry model.

Sensitive content guardrail

The AI rejects unsafe variable combos (e.g. concentrated acid + organic matter) and suggests alternatives for younger pupils.

No PII in AI prompts

The reflection prompt contains only sim state and the pupil's answer — never name, class or CPR. aiSafeFetch enforces it.

WCAG 2.2 AA

All simulations are keyboard-navigable with ARIA roles, focus rings and prefers-reduced-motion respected.

Frequently asked questions

Does it replace the physical lab?

No — it prepares for it. Research shows pupils who run the simulation before the physical experiment gain deeper understanding and make fewer mistakes. We support 'before, during and after'.

Which subjects do the sims cover?

Science, physics/chemistry, biology and geography. Each sim is tagged to curriculum competence areas, dropping directly into year plans and teacher guides.

Can teachers add their own sims?

Not in the UI yet — but each sim is a React component with an open prop structure. We add 1-2 new sims per term based on teacher feedback. Send a request via support.

Does it work on school Chromebooks?

Yes. Everything runs in the browser, no plugins, no WebGL where avoidable. Tested on ChromeOS, iPadOS, Windows and Android tablets.
