Teacher daily notes — 30 seconds per pupil, the whole chain benefits

One note · three audiences

The parent's daily highlight

Your note becomes the foundation for the parent's 60-second reel at 3:30 pm. Finally, something concrete to talk about at home.

The pupil's Learning Journey

Notes tagged 'Win' or 'Celebrate' become candidates for the pupil's portfolio at term end. No curation afterwards.

The school's documentation

Tags and sentiment roll up into the class and school documentation requirements — without extra reports or log books.

How to take a note

  1. 1

    Pick one pupil

From your class overview or directly in SpeedGrader. The note field always lives in the same place.

  2. 2

    Pick a tag

Win, Struggle, Heads-up or Celebrate. AI sentiment fills in automatically, but you can always overwrite it.

  3. 3

    Write one sentence

Concrete, observable, neutral — as you'd say it aloud to a colleague. Max 240 characters.

  4. 4

    Pick the sharing level

Private (only you), Parent (lands in today's reel) or Portfolio (candidate for the pupil's Learning Journey). You can always change it later.

Granular sharing and audit

You decide per note who sees what. Sharing to parents never overwrites a private note — a copy is made. Every change is audit-logged.

  • Three sharing levels per note: private, parent, portfolio
  • No automatic backfill — past notes stay private
  • Audit log on every change for 180 days
  • AI is used only for sentiment suggestions — you can always overwrite

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take?+

30 seconds per pupil for a short note. In practice that's about 1 hour/week for a typical class of 24 — and it replaces logbook, contact book and parts of the daily report.

Can I note without sharing?+

Yes. Private is the default. You can switch to 'Parent' or 'Portfolio' later if you change your mind.

Does it replace the Communication Book?+

No. Official reminders, concerns and required school correspondence stay in the Communication Book. Daily notes are the informal, daily stream.
