Eight schools adopt Danish AI platform after the summer holidays
SkoleElev.ai will use artificial intelligence to strengthen pupils' independent thinking and reduce teachers' routine work. The platform began as a tool founder Kim Østergaard built to help his own daughter.
When pupils and teachers return after the summer holidays, eight schools will adopt SkoleElev.ai as a shared digital platform for teaching, planning and school leadership. One of them is the special-needs school SkolenMIR. The rollout starts at the beginning of the 2026/27 school year.
It comes at a time when schools are debating how artificial intelligence can be used without making pupils passive or replacing their own thinking. SkoleElev.ai is built on the opposite principle: AI should ask questions, explain and guide — but not think for the pupil.
“AI must not become a shortcut around learning. Used well, the technology can help pupils work more independently, get support when they are stuck, and reflect on their own answers. At the same time it can remove some of the routine work that today takes time away from teachers' core task,” says Kim Østergaard, founder of SkoleElev.ai.
For SkolenMIR, it is above all the ability to bring pupil administration and learning together in a single solution that has been decisive.
“SkoleElev.ai is the only platform we have found that combines everything — both pupil administration and learning platform in one and the same platform,” says Katrine Nordvig, head teacher at the special-needs school SkolenMIR.
From a father's tool to a school platform: SkoleElev.ai was founded in 2025. The idea arose when Kim Østergaard was looking for a better way to support his own daughter with her schoolwork. The first tool was later expanded into a platform for pupils, teachers, school leaders, municipalities and parents.
The platform today covers primary schools and special-needs schools as well as vocational schools, business and trade schools and upper-secondary schools. The different education areas have their own entry points through SkoleElev.ai, Erhverv.ai, Fagskolen.ai and Dannelse.ai.
AI as a guide — not an answer machine: The platform is built around problem-based learning. The pupil assistant Uggi acts as a digital guide and reflection partner. Among other things it can ask probing questions, adapt explanations and help the pupil move forward without simply delivering a finished answer.
Teachers get access to a digital AI assistant that can help with lesson preparation and administration. Among other things it can draft differentiated quizzes, point out likely subject misconceptions and draft parent newsletters. School leaders and municipalities can get a joined-up overview of wellbeing, curriculum coverage and pedagogical activity across classes and schools.
Interest from schools in seven countries: SkoleElev.ai is also available in an English-language version under the name MyStudent.ai. The company says schools from seven countries are in dialogue about local editions adapted to each country's language and curriculum.
"The technology is not a goal in itself. The goal is better learning for pupils, more time for teaching and relationships for teachers, and a better basis for decisions for school leaders."
