The laptop is the classroom's invisible distraction. Now the teacher can see who is with them.
Focus tracking calmly shows whether a pupil is active in the tab, idle or away from the tab – in live lessons and open assignments. Never which other sites they use.
Phones are out. Laptops are still in every lesson.
3,2 hours a day
Danish pupils spend on average on digital learning materials (PISA).
7/10 tasks
are done on a screen when the pupil works independently (Aarhus University, 2025).
1 swipe
is all it takes for the teacher to see a calm class – while attention is elsewhere.
What the teacher sees
Next to each pupil sits a small, calm status. No sounds, no pop-ups, no screenshots. At a glance the teacher sees two pupils have drifted – and can walk over before the lesson is lost.
At the top it's summed up in one line: "2 of 6 aren't with us right now".

How it works
- 1
The school switches it on
The administrator enables focus tracking in the privacy settings and informs pupils and parents.
- 2
The pupil opens the task
Tracking only starts in a live lesson or an open assignment – and stops when the pupil closes it.
- 3
The teacher sees live status
Active, Idle or Away from the tab – and for how long. Only the school's teachers and leaders can see it.
- 4
Overview for the conversation
Four weeks of minutes per week on the pupil's profile give a calm, concrete starting point.
Attention – not surveillance
Focus tracking is built to give the teacher an overview with as little data as possible.
What we measure
- Whether our tab is in front
- Whether the pupil used mouse or keyboard within a minute
- Number of tab switches
- Total minutes per day and task
What we never measure
- Which other sites or apps the pupil uses
- Screenshots or recordings
- What the pupil types elsewhere
- Tracking outside lessons and tasks
Everything focus tracking does
Three simple states
Active (tab in front and the pupil is working), Idle (no input for over a minute) and Away from the tab (switched tab or minimised).
Live status for the teacher
During an assignment or live lesson the status sits calmly on the pupil's tile: "Away from the tab · 2 min" or "Active again".
No alarms
No pop-ups or sounds. The teacher sees the overview when it suits – and can walk over to the pupil instead of guessing.
Overview per pupil
On the pupil's profile the teacher sees active, idle and away minutes plus tab switches for the last four weeks, week by week.
Never what the pupil did instead
We record no other sites, apps or screenshots. Only whether our tab is in use – and only total minutes.
Open to the pupil
The pupil always sees "Your teacher can see if you are active in the tab" and their own minutes for today.
Off by default
The school administrator switches focus tracking on in the privacy settings. Data is deleted automatically after 13 months.
Only when it makes sense
Measured only in live lessons and when an assignment is open – not at break time, at home or the rest of the day.
Examples from the classroom
Upper years with laptops in every lesson
The teacher can see who has drifted off while the rest work – without walking behind every screen.
The pupil conversation
Four weeks of overview give a concrete, calm starting point for a talk with the pupil and parents about concentration.
The live lesson
When the teacher leads the board, the pupil tiles show straight away whether the class is following.
Security & compliance
Off by default
Only the school administrator can switch it on.
School staff only
Live status is private: only the pupil shares, only the school's teachers and leaders see.
Minimal data
Only total minutes per day – never timelines or content.
Automatic deletion
Everything is deleted after 13 months.
Frequently asked questions
Can the teacher see which sites the pupil visits?
No. We only know whether our tab is in front and in use. Other sites, apps and screen content are never recorded.
Who switches it on?
The school administrator. It is off until the school chooses it, and the school should inform pupils and parents first.
What if the pupil watches a video in the assignment?
Embedded videos and exercises on the page count as being in the tab. A laptop that goes to sleep counts as away – not as active.
How long is data kept?
Only total minutes per day and assignment or lesson. Everything is deleted automatically after 13 months.
